WAYNE, PA – JANUARY 23, 2020 – Stephano Slack, LLC, a leading regional accounting and consulting firm, recently announced the promotion of Jay Brooks from Senior Manager to Partner in the firm’s Accounting and Auditing department, effective December 1, 2019. He began work with the firm as an intern in 2008 and has held positions of increasing responsibility.
“Jay has proven himself through hard work and creative thinking,” said Michael J. Stephano, Managing Partner. “He’s always looking to do that little bit extra that makes a big difference to our clients. His well-deserved promotion will help strengthen the Accounting and Auditing practice as well as the firm overall as we continue to scale.”
The firm has experienced tremendous growth organically as well as through acquisitions, resulting in a 20 percent growth in headcount over the past year.
“When I started, there were 12 of us, we now number over 70. It’s definitely an exciting time to be part of the firm,” Brooks said. “I think it’s important for employees to know that the firm prioritizes growing from within, and embraces and invests in your career. I’m excited to be part of the firm’s future success and expansion as well as that of the Accounting and Auditing department.”
In his new role, Brooks will broaden his focus from just the Accounting and Auditing department to the firm as a whole. “I’m looking forward to participating in partner group meetings, being more responsible for firm administration and operations, and participating in decisions that affect the firm overall,” he said.
He will also be responsible for developing client relationships both new and existing. “I want to ensure we’re serving our clients in the best possible way and building relationships as trusted business advisors, doing more than transactions,” Brooks added.
Brooks is also integral to the firm’s technology initiatives and stated, “I evaluate software and apps as technology develops to take the firm to the next level and keep up with the times. I look for ways to do our job better through managing work flows and client requests, while also making our clients’ lives easier with intuitive portals and a better user experience.”
In addition to his daily responsibilities, Brooks works on Stephano’s Best Places to Work Committee, which evaluates benefits, policies and events to further solidify the firm’s reputation as the best CPA firm in the region while continuing to attract and retain top talent.
